For monitoring tools
Point your monitor at GET /v1/status. It needs no key and returns 200 with "status": "ok" when the API and its database are up, or 503 (with Retry-After) when they're not.
"Data freshness" shows when our team last changed a record, so a quiet day is normal and not an outage.
